Like the first game against them in Alaska, the Springfield Jr. Blues competed with the Fairbanks Ice Dogs on Friday, but the visitors pulled away in the third period.
Cameron Cook, Jacob Stridsberg, Tyler Tomberlin and Clay Cross all got on the board as Fairbanks won 4-2. Sam Craggs and Josh Bell scored for the Blues, both on the power play.
The Blues and Dogs were tied at 1 going into the third period before Fairbanks exploded for two goals in less than a minute at the 4:04 and 4:57 marks of the third. Bell’s goal pulled the Blues to within one, but that’s as close as Springfield got.
Springfield led 2-1 against the Ice Dogs in the Blues’ first game in Fairbanks about a month ago, and the teams were tied going into the third. The Blues hope trends don’t repeat as Fairbanks won the second game, 7-0.
Puck drops at 7:05 on FastHockey for the conclusion to this weekend’s series tonight. We jump in with pregame about 10 minutes prior. Check out the audio highlights from last night:
